Hi Class,
the teachers attended a talk on 'Cyber Wellness' yesterday. Thought I'll share some of the points we covered here. Please keep them in mind and abide to these 'rules' when you blog -- whether on this class blog or your personal ones. These points are not to restrict your freedom and creativity when it comes to blogging, but to protect yourselves. So do take note:
COPYRIGHT ISSUES
DO NOT put up photos, pictures or texts from other sources onto your blogs (or homework) -- without seeking the permission of the original source.
Even if permission has been given, you MUST NAME THE AUTHOR / CREATOR , THE ORGANISATION, as well as THE YEAR that the item was created.
'FLAMING' / NASTY COMMENTS
DO NOT post nasty comments about others on your blogs, even if it's your personal blogs -- you never know who'll end up reading them.
Sometimes, in a moment of anger, we might type something negative about others. These personal opinions could leave us with personal liability for slander (i.e. the person you wrote about could sue you for damaging his/ her reputation).
PHOTOS
DO NOT post photographs of your friends and/or yourselves in positions or situations that are embarrassing or awkward, especially in school uniform. The school can take disciplinary action if they come to know of it.
I don't mean to nag, but please remember:
NOTHING that is typed over the Internet is private.
DO NOT say threatening things or pick on anyone, even if you mean it as a joke.
OK, otherwise, HAPPY BLOGGING :)
Don't be a fool just because it's April Fool's Day today!
Miss Tung
